Season Install for Daniel Doherty

Datos Developers Adam Corkin and Gareth Bingham have recently installed Season software for new client Daniel Doherty Bakery based in Moville, Co. Donegal, Ireland

Daniel Doherty's produce breads and tray bakes in their purpose built factory in Co. Donegal, Ireland. They have approximately 95 customers with 130 products delivering 6 days per week. They operate Van Sales through 5 vehicles - 3 for Co. Donegal and 2 for Co. Londonderry. They previously used manual paper accounts and delivery books. Trading over two countries - Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland resulted in many mistakes due to the exchange rates and different VAT rates. They realised that they required a computerised system designed specifically for their sector which could deal with these issues. They approached Datos who had the solution through their Season Suite of Products.

In January 2012, Datos installed Season Office and Road. Their one user Office System will remove the need for their manual paper accounts. They are currently live on the Season Sales Ledgers and will follow shortly on the Purchase and Nominal Ledgers.

Their 5 user Road system consisting of 5 Motorola Symbol MC65 handhelds with portable Zebra Printers remove the need for docket books and paper invoices.

4 Training and Installation Days provided by Datos, means that Daniel Doherty will use a system which is a lot more streamlined and efficient:

1. The driver will submit their order the day before using Season Road on the handheld device. This order will be uploaded to Season Office remotely using GPRS Mobile Signal
2. At the end of every day, a production report is produced. This report determined what products and quantities are required to be baked that night for delivery the next morning.
3. They then use 'pick notes' sourced from Season Office to load each van. The orders are sent remotely from Season Office to Season Road as stock.
4. Van drivers follow the route dictated by the handhelds, calling at various shops. Stock is replenished on the shelves and they are given the option of emailing or printing Delivery Dockets and Invoices using their portable Zebra Printer.

Already this company is noticing a real benefit to their business. Van Drivers comment that once they got used to the new system, it saves them time and they don't have to worry about losing docket books. They admit they were anxious about the change, but using the manuals and training provided by Datos ensured a quick and painless changeover.

Seamus Crumlish, the General Manager at Daniel Doherty's state that their staff only took a couple of days to get used to the new system. It saves them time and there are no more mistakes. They found that there were often mistakes when calculating totals due to the different VAT's and discounts. With the Season Suite, these are defined for each customer, totally eliminating mistakes.
