Callan Bacon, a Pork and Bacon processing company in Ireland have recently upgraded to Season 12, using Office, Factory and Mobile Factory with integrated Ledgers.
Callan Bacon based in Kilkenny, Ireland are a leading Pork and Bacon Processing Company. Established in 1924 and currently in it's 4th generation, Callan Bacon have a turnover of €40 million per year and have the capacity to produce 45000 tonnes annually. They have recently completed a €5 million investment in a state of the art processing plant enabling them to produce 200,000 consumer packs of products per day to many major multiples in the UK and Ireland; namely gammon joints, oven ready products and sliced bacon.
In 2007 Datos installed their fully integrated Office and Factory solution running on touch panel terminals and hand held PDA's. This has now grown to a 10 user Office System, a 7 user Factory system running on a variety of touch panel terminals and a 4 user system running on hand held PDA's connected to a wireless network. Callan and Datos have just completed a migration of the full accounting system from COMiT to Season 12, providing the final touches to a highly sophisticated and critical business system.
The Season Suite of software provides extensive and accurate costings, as well as, real time stock control (as up to date as the last label printed). The Factory software also fulfils all their labelling and traceability requirements. Callan Bacon are accredited by Bord Bia PQAS and are BRC Certified. The ability to print and easily scan labels ensures that these stringent traceability policies and procedures are adhered to.
Kate Merstein, Accountant with the Company firmly believes that the business "simply could not work without this system". With over 100 members of staff on the factory floor and up to 200 factory jobs/processes running concurrently at one time, Season enables them to keep a detailed eye on exactly who does what, where and when, eliminating mistakes and giving them the ability to identify errors before they can make a detrimental impact to the running of the business.
Geraldine Curran, Senior Accountant explains that the Upgrade to Season "..was painless, on the first day of going live our business operated without incident. The system is easy to use, reliable, and has given us many benefits".
As well as using our new integrated Season Ledgers, Callan Bacon's upgrade also included the 'Statement Centre' to allow them to email, fax or print their customer statements. In the Factory, a new facility to transfer stock between locations, by scanning labels, has also been implemented using our Mobile Factory Software.
